Dreadful harm has indeed been done by those who have taken the sword in Christ's name, against his specific command.  Yet the holocaust in Nazi Germany and Stalin's purges in the Soviet Union warn us of the even deadlier danger that lurks in renunciation of a divine standard for thought and life.

In "Church" history there were such things as THE INQUISITION and even the incredibly merciless CRUSADES that did incredible damage both physically and spiritually and, supposedly, in the name of the Lord. It's clear men have often dishonored God, dragging His name through the mud, through what they claim in His Name.
Jesus said: "John 18:36
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight ...." But many have either ignored that fact and/or refused to read it in Scripture for themselves. But true saints can rest assured that God will vindicate His Holy name: Psalm 138:2 "I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise you name for your loving kindness and for your truth: for [LORD] you have magnified your word above all your name." Consider for example, Kent: "9 Look, I will force those who belong to Satan’s synagogue—those liars who say they are Jews but are not—to come and bow down at your feet. They will acknowledge that you are the ones I love. (Revelation 3:9, NLB)
God isn't impressed with those who claim to fight for Him. He told Peter to put up his sword. "They who live by the sword will die by the sword," Jesus said (Matthew 26:51-53). And that is why the true Church of Jesus Christ does not launch all kinds of wars in this world. The advance of God's Kingdom is not made with weapons that are carnal anyway. Our weapons are mightier than that by far. (2 Corinthians 10:4-6) --Dad
